Things are going great, and they’re only getting better
I’m doing all right, getting good grades
The future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades
Those of you who read these blog posts have seen lyrics from some of my favorite tunes find their way into the articles. My love of alternative music from the 80’s and 90’s is well known in our household, prompting my son to quip, “Dad, any interest in music from the current century?”
The lyrics above are from Timbuk 3’s epic one-hit wonder and they fit our latest news at Mobile Heartbeat perfectly. Last week, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) announced their signing of an agreement to purchase Mobile Heartbeat. This is obviously a huge event for us, but more importantly, we think that it is a tremendous milestone for the entire Clinical Communications and Collaboration (CC&C) market. In five years, we’ve gone from start-up to “The Show” and we are even more excited about our future. An HCA clinical leader said to us recently, “Continued growth and success of Mobile Heartbeat’s software is not just important to us, it’s important to the entire healthcare community,” and we wholeheartedly agree.
Some Q&A to fill in the details:
Q: How does this impact Mobile Heartbeat’s customers and partners?
A: The impact is positive for everyone. We are still Mobile Heartbeat – both in name and with our people – and we will operate as an independent entity (legally, we will be a subsidiary). We will continue to support our excellent customers and we are planning on expanding and growing. The same Mobile Heartbeat team that you work with today will be with you going forward.
Q: If nothing is going to change for us, then why do this?
A: The past two years at Mobile Heartbeat have seen significant growth and advancement for both our products and our customers. To continue to serve our clients with great software and a world-class team, we need more resources – capital, people and access to clinical expertise. The need for the Clinical Communication & Collaboration (CC&C) software that we develop is increasing as new hospitals appreciate the vision and adopt our technology. We want to remain the technology leader, so we analyzed our options on how best to grow with our customers’ best interests in mind.
We looked at HCA, who has been a major investor in Mobile Heartbeat since 2013, and recognized that we had much in common – HCA has deployed our MH-CURE software in 21 hospitals to date and they are planning an expansion to all 165 facilities. Their commitment to our MH-CURE software, our customers and our people made this a great fit. That’s why going forward, the future’s so bright – we gotta wear shades!
